Elec Class release notes: what is added, improved or fixed in each version of the simulator, the course sheets and the exercises.
Version Alpha V0.0.6 Live version
Fully redesigned course sheets and tools, learning paths that are easier to follow, and a nickname you choose yourself for the challenge.
The 15 course sheets are redesigned: the key formula in large print right at the top, a calculator to try it straight away, the lesson, the method with a worked example, common mistakes, questions and answers, then the exercises sorted by level and a lesson idea for teachers.
The tools share the same layout: simulator, colour code, equivalent resistance (one box per resistor), formula sheet with search, glossary, symbols and the teachers' page.
Simpler learning paths and Learning screen: you see straight away where to pick up, each level is a link, and the "Practise" window is set up in a few taps.
Easier to find your way: a breadcrumb at the top of pages, a more compact header on phones with a menu, and a clear page when an address does not exist.
Daily challenge: you choose your nickname when you create your account, your first name never appears in the leaderboards, and you can change your nickname in your account.
Account: signing out takes one click, and the e-mails sent by the site are clearer and easier to read on a phone.
"Reset progress" now keeps the language you chose.
Version Alpha V0.0.5
The daily challenge, two new resistor calculators, and a site now called Elec Class.
Daily challenge: every day, a Lumière logic grid where you light up the whole circuit with bulbs. The same for everyone, the rules shown as pictures before you play, a timer and one game a day.
Around the challenge: leaderboards for the day, the month and all time, with AI players; with an account, your score goes in on its own. After the grid, the spark of the day shows you an electricity fact, with the course sheet and an exercise to go further. The challenge also has its box on the home page.
Two new calculators: the resistor colour code, from bands to value and back, for 3 to 6 bands, with the colour chart and the method; and equivalent resistance, in series, in parallel and for mixed circuits.
The site is now called Elec Class, like its address elec-class.com, and the home page says more clearly what you will find: lessons, worked exercises and a virtual lab, all free.
Simpler account: after signing up or signing in, you go back to where you were; Bastaya greets you when you confirm your address, an expired link can be requested again in one click, and a field filled in wrongly turns red with a clear message.
Privacy: you choose whether the site may measure your visit, and you can change your mind at any time on the Privacy page.
Support the project: a new page to send us your opinion in a few words, while we find a way for you to support us.
More reliable: the exercises stay available even when the server is slow to answer.
Version Alpha V0.0.4
An optional account to find your progress on all your devices, with your personal space (streak flame, exercises to review, favourites, achievements, certificates), and a completely redesigned full-screen lab that checks your circuits on its own.
The account stays optional: the whole site works without one, and your progress then stays on your device as before.
With an account (an e-mail address and a password), your Game progress, your coins and your Practice sessions follow you from one device to another.
You manage your account yourself: forgotten password, change of first name, address or password, sign-out of other devices, download of your data and account deletion.
A flame at the top of the screen counts your days in a row with at least one exercise, and your account sums up your activity over the last 26 weeks.
"My progress" page: progress on each path, success by topic and a curve of your Practice marks.
"To review" page: the exercises you failed or gave up on and the topics to work on again, with a button to practise them.
A star saves a course sheet, an exercise or a formula to your favourites, and the sandbox saves your circuits to your account so you can reopen them elsewhere.
Fifteen achievements to unlock and a title to pick; a completed path gives a printable certificate in your name, which a teacher can check online with its code.
The lab has been completely redesigned: new layout, new tools and a clearer board.
Full-screen lab: the board fills the screen, the tools float above it, and the component drawer folds away to make room.
In Game mode, no more "Check" button: each step validates itself as soon as the circuit is right.
Each exercise opens on its question in large print; you fold it once read and find it again in the mission card.
Bastaya stays quiet during a level and only offers a hand after a minute without any action.
A button mutes or restores the success sounds, to work quietly in class.
The browser's back and forward arrows move between the site's screens instead of leaving the site.
Version Alpha V0.0.3
No more getting stuck in Game mode: lab exercises that ask you to insert an instrument can now be completed, and giving up on a level opens the next one.
Lab exercises where you insert an ammeter or a wattmeter, or fix a misconnected instrument, now let you remove the lead or chip that has to move.
In Game mode, giving up on a level unlocks the next one: you see the solution, the level is still to be passed (no coin, no star), but you are no longer stuck in the path.
Version Alpha V0.0.2
Practise one specific law in two clicks: the law, the kind of exercises (theory, calculation or lab), and the session runs from the simplest to the toughest; this version also introduces the release journal.
"What's new" box on the home page: the live version, its date and its one-sentence summary.
"What's new" page: what each version brought, and how to read the version number.
The version number at the bottom of every page leads to the journal.
Leaner Practice screen: each topic fits in one card, its exercise count and a single button, with no success rate and no cycle counter.
"Practise" button on every topic: a window asks which laws to work on (Ohm's law, Pouillet's law, efficiency...) and which kind of exercises (theory, calculation or lab), then starts the session.
Calculation and circuit-reading exercises no longer show the workbench: the question and the diagram fill the screen.
A focused session asks at least 5 exercises per chosen law and 10 in all, from the simplest to the toughest; if the bank holds fewer, exercises come back with new values.
Kirchhoff exercises: the hints and the solution now lay out the whole calculation line by line, as on the blackboard (loop and junction equations, substitution, elimination, then the three currents).
Multi-loop circuits are now drawn like on a worksheet: sources, resistors with their values and a named current on every branch.
The circuit diagram now sits right under the question, as large as the screen allows and in its own shape, with more readable component values.
Purchased hints are shown across the full width of the card: a written development reads line by line, not squeezed into a narrow column.
Link chips can now be placed between two holes that already hold a wire: no need to unplug anything to make room.
A chip dragged onto the board keeps the orientation of the spot you aim at, instead of flipping endlessly between horizontal and vertical.
The properties panel no longer opens over the board just to report a missing power source: it shows up only for what you select, or for a real warning.
Version Alpha V0.0.1
First public release: the simulator, the 15 course sheets, the learning paths, the practice sessions and over 350 solved exercises, in three languages.
Sandbox: build on a perfboard, real-time solving, schematic view with IEC 60617 symbols, voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter and wattmeter, simulated time.
Game: four paths of steps to unlock, stars and coins, including the full general electricity course.
Practice: a graded session on one or more chapters, hints, correction and a report by skill.
The 15 course sheets (definitions, formulas, worked example, common mistakes, FAQ), the formula list, the glossary and the symbols.
Bastaya, the lab companion: circuit feedback, wiring warnings and a getting-started guide.
Every course sheet and every exercise has its own address: a direct link to share with students, which opens the page with nothing to install.
Site in French, English and Spanish, free and with no account to create: your progress stays on your device.
The Privacy page says what the site stores, and carries the licence and terms of use: what you may do with the site, in class and personally.
How to read the version number
The number reads Phase Vvision.batch.release, for example Alpha V0.0.1. The phase says where the project stands (Alpha, Beta...). The first number changes when the vision of the project changes, the second when a planned set of features ships, the third at every release. The version you are running is shown at the bottom of every page.
