Exercise from the chapter "Real generators & loads"
Level 3 of 5 · Skills: Calculate
A motor has a back-EMF E' = 24 V and an internal resistance r' = 2 Ω. It carries 3 A. What voltage must be applied to it?
E' = 24 V · r' = 2 Ω · I = 3 A
Parametric exercise: the values change with every draw; these are one example.
Guided problem in 4 steps: unknown, formula, units, data, result.
Load: U = E' + r'·I = 24 + 2 × 3 = 30 V. The power E'·I becomes mechanical work, r'·I² heat.
