Exercise from the chapter "Magnetism & electromagnetism"
Level 3 of 5 · Skills: Calculate
A 0.25 m conductor carrying 2 A is placed perpendicular to a 0.8 T magnetic field. Compute the force acting on it.
B = 0.8 T · I = 2 A · l = 0.25 m
Parametric exercise: the values change with every draw; these are one example.
Guided problem in 4 steps: unknown, formula, units, data, result.
F = B·I·l = 0.8 × 2 × 0.25 = 400 mN (field and conductor perpendicular).
