A voltage U = 120 V exists across C₁ = 6 µF and C₂ = 12 µF in parallel, charged then isolated. What does this voltage become when a fully discharged 2 µF capacitor is added in parallel?

Charge is conserved: Q = (C₁ + C₂) · U = 2160 µC; it spreads over C₁ + C₂ + C₃: U′ = Q / (C₁ + C₂ + C₃) = 108 V.
