Exercise from the chapter "Alternating current"
Level 4 of 5 · Skills: Calculate
A kettle of efficiency 0.9 heats 1.5 L of water from 20 °C to 100 °C in 10 min (specific heat 4,180 J/kg·°C). What will be the amplitude (in cm) of the current curve on the oscilloscope (calibration 1 cm ≙ 1 A) if the supply voltage is 230 V?
Parametric exercise: the values change with every draw; these are one example.
Useful heat 501600 J; absorbed P = W / (η · t) = 928.9 W; I = P / U = 4.04 A; Imax = I · √2; amplitude = Imax / 1 = 5.71 cm.
