Exercise from the chapter "Alternating current"
Level 3 of 5 · Skills: Calculate
What is the power of a resistor working at 230 V and carrying an AC current whose amplitude on the oscilloscope is 4 cm (calibration 1 cm ≙ 0.5 A)?
Parametric exercise: the values change with every draw; these are one example.
Imax = 4 × 0.5 = 2 A; I = Imax / √2 = 1.41 A; P = U · I = 230 × 1.41 = 325 W (pure resistor: cos φ = 1).
