Exercise from the chapter "Ohm's law & resistance"
Level 2 of 5 · Skills: Calculate
What is the length of a aluminium wire of resistance 1.25 kΩ, given that its resistivity is 0.028 Ω·mm²/m and its diameter is 0.1 mm?
R = 1250 Ω · ρ = 0.028 Ω·mm²/m · D = 0.1 mm
Parametric exercise: the values change with every draw; these are one example.
Guided problem in 4 steps: unknown, formula, units, data, result.
S = π·D²/4 = 0.00785 mm²; l = R·S/ρ = 1250 × 0.00785 / 0.028 ≈ 350 m.
