A load (E′ = 24 V, r′ = 4 Ω) is fed by a generator (E = 45 V, r = 1 Ω). What resistance must the series rheostat present so that I = 2 A?
Parametric exercise: the values change with every draw; these are one example.
E − E′ = (r + r′ + R) · I → R = (E − E′) / I − r − r′ = (45 − 24) / 2 − 1 − 4 = 5.5 Ω.
